Musical Director

The choir is conducted by Jo Tyas and performs to backing tracks and a capella (without backing). Some songs are accompanied by piano, played either by Jo or by Rachel Urben, another Songbird member.

Jo Tyas

Jo is a primary school teacher who lives and teaches in Crawley, West Sussex. She completed her teacher training at Reading University, specialising in Music. Jo has been singing since she was 11 years old and currently conducts both Songbirds and her school choir. She loves performing as well and can often be seen taking to the stage with local theatre group FAME.
